# hungerSignal > hungerSignal (beta) shows fresh food that local US shops have just made or will have ready soon: bakeries, home kitchens, food trucks, pop-ups. The website is invite-only during the beta. Signed-in hungerSignal members can use it through their AI assistant as a connector. ## Use hungerSignal from an AI assistant (members) hungerSignal is available to signed-in members as a custom MCP connector (Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants that support remote MCP servers): 1. Add https://hungersignal.com/_api/mcp as a custom connector (remote MCP server, Streamable HTTP). 2. When the assistant asks, sign in with your hungerSignal account (OAuth sign-in). No access code is needed. 3. Ask for fresh food near your town or city. Tools (both read-only): - search_nearby_food: fresh food near a US city ("City, ST") or coordinates, with an optional search term and radius (up to 5 miles). - fresh_from_followed_shops: the shops you follow on hungerSignal and what each has fresh or coming soon near a place. If you are an assistant and the person has not signed in, the connector asks them to sign in; do not guess or ask for a code. If you don't know where the person is, ask for their town or city. Authorization details for MCP clients: protected resource metadata is at https://hungersignal.com/_api/oauth-protected-resource (authorization server: https://clerk.hungersignal.com). ## Good to know - Availability is first come, first served. Food is never reserved or sold through hungerSignal; people buy directly from the shop. - Dietary tags (Halal, Kosher, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free) are declared by the shop and not verified. People with allergies should check with the shop. - Terms: https://hungersignal.com/terms - Privacy: https://hungersignal.com/privacy - Contact: support@hungersignal.com
